Our family company, Sears Oil Co., has made a museum out of the original 1925 gas station located in Rome, NY. We also donated the whole front facade of one of the the 1940's gas stations which is on permenant display in the art-deco section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. These were beautiful stations constructed of porclean steel panels, stainless steel trim including doors, neon signs, and a huge curved glass office and display window. The truck fleet of that period were 6 cylinder gas single axle Brockway tractors with a stainless steel "S" in front of the radiator. The trailers were single axle steel Columbians with the curved back. There were racks on either side of the tank that supported stamped steel letters "SEARS". The drivers hated them as they would "whistle" in the wind.
