In general, vacuum cleaners suck!! Some suck more better than others.
The best one ever built was the Universal built in the late 40's. When Mom got a new machine, the universal became the shop vac. Used it for many years and it had more suck than any home vacuum I've ever seen. It's demise was I accidently sucked up a rather large bolt one day, and it broke off two of the cast fan blades.
