Ok my dana 70 is a light duty model . It turns out that the bearing was worn enough to allow the bearing cup to wear into the housing . about 3 thousands . I sus pect I can figure out a way to machine the surface - This wear is not all that uncommon , but a few builders I ran across will just chuck the case .
So here is the question . besides the axle stamped numbers is there a way to tell a dana 70 Hd from the dana 70 and dana 70 U . The dana site says the HD is 50 lbs heavier and uses 4 inch axle tubes - is this the case with all dana 70 hd axles ? Are there any other ways to spot the HD series ?
i can get a deal on a ARB made for the HD dana 70 -this would more than offset the price for a dana 70 HD housing - if I can find one .
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
