im in the trucking biz. the freight generally moves from the west to the east meaning that you can get better rates going west on an empty return truck. maine is a problem because anyone going up there (& not a lot of trucks do) has poland spring to bring back at a decent rate. the preponderance of loads going into maine are closed food reefers that will not / cannot tranport vehicles.
best bet is to check hemmings or post needs on websites like this one for more popular brands. diesel is almost 3.00 again so figure 3/6mpg .50 per mile for fuel alone.
