Paul;
I fab'ed my running boards out of 3/16" steel diamond plate. The mounts are made from braced angle. I will take a picture of the mounts in the morning and email them to you.
The Tool Box you see on the left running board is a aluminum diamond plate tool box that Lowes sells for $39 bucks. In that box is my Battery and Disconnect switch. I have air vents in the box to preclude any possible hydrogen build up. No reason you could not have a box like this on the left and a box on the right for the compressor. Even with venting, I would not put a compressor with electric motor in a closed compartment with a Battery Hydrogen + Spark = Bang !
When I put the 318 in the Bumblebee, I too had a problem where to mount the battery. This solved taht problem quickly. The battery is a top terminal, but the terminals are recessed lower than the top of the battery case.
