I have 4 wheel disk brakes on my Power wagon with Vacuum Booster, 4 wheel disk brakes on my WC-53 Cummins/Carryall with hydroboost and 4 wheel disk brakes on my Cummins/M37 with Hydroboost. This summer the Power Wagon will get a Cummins with hydroboost and my Cummins/Swivel Frame to be built will have 4 wheel Disks with Hydroboost. I list the above to show my confidence in disks over drums. Its simply a day/night difference in stopping power. Also you dont loose your brakes after running though water like you can with drums.
If you look at truck with Drum brakes that needs a total brake overhaul (everything) the cost of disks is only a tad more money. Drive one with disks and you will never look back.
If you go with 4 wheel disks, you need to add proportioning. If you run front disks and rear drums, you do not need proportion control. You should also consider a dual master cylinder for safety if you lost either the front or back brake systems.
