here's the background info: i'm using a manual tranny from a '79 three quarter ton dodge, transfer case from my '47 WDX, and the axles from a '85 CUCV military truck (same as a 1 ton chevy: GM 14 bolt rear and dana 60 front).
so i spent all weekend measuring over and over, and poring over Tom Wood's measuring guide to get my custom drive shafts made.
The axle u-joints: no problem. front is a 1310 series, rear is a 1350 series
Transmission output u-joint: no problem. Detroit 7260
Transfer case u-joints: huge problem.
here's the problem i'm running into: the measurements i'm getting for the front and rear output of the transfer case isn't matching up with any of the choices for u-joints. i'm getting 1.25" across the opening of the yoke (top of the u-joint cap), 2" across the inside span of the yoke, and 3.3125" across the outside span. i know i can get u-joints to fit the output yokes and a u-joint to fit the input yoke from Vintage Power Wagons. but then the problem is there are no drive shaft yokes available to fit those u-joints.
i'm open to almost any option. i'd really like to keep the transfer case from the '47, since it bolts right in place, and its in perfectly fine shape. i know switching the yokes is also an option, but i don't even know if there are any yokes out there that are compatible with that old tranfer case.
so in summary: HELP!!!
maybe all this stress will pay off one day.
