i have 50 - to 60 frames under my belt . Most are welded tube for hot rods but there are a few modified truck frames that I have welded too . Get good penetration and do not let it cool too fast , The problem is you get the hydrogen in the steel migrating to stress points. No matter what you do this is hard to avoid . Keep am eye on your welds once the truck is on the road . If it is going to crack you should spot it.
Take a look at many new frames -you will see welding all over the place.
Of course if you do not understand engineering or do not have a welding ticket your chances of messing up will increase exponetialy .
