Had an odd thing happen to the 47 today.I've never seen this happen before.
Its about 34 degrees in Kansas and very damp outside. Light drizzle/rain and fog. Fired up the old 47 earlier and it was just running like crap and didnt want to stay idling or idle rough. I opened the hood and the base of the carb was frosted over. I shut the truck off and ran into the house to get my camera for a picture and in that time the frost had melted. I fired the truck back up and it was running great. The truck was up to running temperature and had been running for a good 15 mins with the frost on the carb.
I figure the cold intake air rushing through the carb created a cold base and the moisture outside condensed creating frost.
So the question is........is this a normal problem with this carb design or do I need to do some tuning to avoid this? This is a new one to me.
The weater is cold and damp enough even my heat pump for the house is frosted over today if that helps to describe the weather.
