im rebuilding (will be done soon) the front end on my command car. ive done one side and am waiting for paint to cure on the parts on the other. in reading the debate about grease vs lube i began thinking about the zerk on the top used to fill the cavity. if im correct you pack (with grease) as you assemble and then you can top off, fill, whatever by greasing through the zerk and when you see grease come out of the inspection hole on the back of the housing. my question is, why not tap and install a zerk on the bottom knuckle plate to grease the bottom bearing. after lubing from the bottm remove the zerk and install a recessed (allen type) plug if you are worried about knocking it off out in the woods. what do you guys think?
