I just happened to call VPW today and talk to Trudy. She said that there would be off-roading at the "other" farm, not just the Adam's farm agian this year. Last year was my first year and due to the rain I didn't get to make it out to the Adam's farm so I can't even comment on the trail ride out there. But, I have talked to several people who say they do not go to the Iowa Rally because there is no "serious" off-roading there. Well I did go to the "other" farm that I beleive was not affilated w/ VPW last year. Well, if you want SERIOUS off-roading it can be had at that farm. There were torrntial downpours for two days that week and the place was very muddy. That made me real happy, but, not everyone. I was pleasantly surprised though at how many people took very nice trucks out there. unfortunately, we just had a couple of local guys, who were real nice and good off-roaders as guides, so things didn't go as smoothly as they might have. I sent a letter to Dave Butler 2 months ago offering to go out a day or two early to do a rough map and perhaps rate the trails by difficulty. I haven't heard back from him so I am sure he has the situation well in hand. Anyhow, even without the rain it would be a very good trail ride with trails to suit all levels of skill and comfort. Perhaps, if it is dryer it will be even better. But, I love mud and I just spent a lot of money on SS Boggers so I will pray for some rain. The reason I called Vintage today is that I would have cancelled my trip there if they were not including the second trail ride. I have two young kids, so until they are older I can only do one trip for off-raoding a year and I want to choose wisely. So to bring this book to a close, if you have passed up on the Iowa Rally for lack of challenging off-roading, please reconsider. I am not affilialted w/ Vintage I would just like to see as many of you as I can out there. Sorry I was so prolix. Thanks for listening, Andy Tierney
