That is quite a leap you just made from fuel cost to slavery, etc.
I understand your position on taking a stand, however your comparison is not apples to apples.
The cost of fuel ( in this case) is simple ecconomices 101, no different than coffee, sugar or other commodities traded world wide and down to the local market.
Are you taking a stand against the price of new trucks, the fluctuation in the price of lumber when it sky-rockets due to bad weather in the Golf, the price of equiptment tires due to the resent shortage ?? Or due you choose fuel prices because they are in vogue and a popular train to hop onto?
Not trying to start a battle commontary here, just trying to understand your way of thinking when it comes to fuel prices.
One more question, and this can be answered by anyone reading this.
What do you think is a reasonable profit for a refiner to make from each gallon of gas / diesel ?
