power steering

I just noticed the power steering hose on my 1998 dodge 2500 is leaking. I was planning to take the truck on a 800 mile trip to pick up an engine for my carryall. My question is if the reservoir runs dry will it burn out the PS pulley bearing and throw the belt? Thus leaving me stranded? or is the bearing sealed? I don't have time to change the hose. any suggestions? Thanks
