I believe the factory supplied some sort of spacer for those trucks shipped with single rear wheels. I am not aware of different drums. I know rear wheels on dualed trucks are different than the front wheels. And to make a dualed rear end into a single you need a spacer if you want to use your existing, matching bolt pattern rear end. Just for confusion, most Fords (Chevies?) had a spacer in the front, which allowed the interchange of dual type rims to the front. Maybe Mike Stone or someone else can shed a little light on this.
