Mine's about 20 years old too now, and still runs great. The main problems are a broken sprocket guard and handle bracket when I backed onto it with my deuce, a handlebar grip that got gnawed on pretty hard by the pack rats, a second handle bracket that broke when the case popped open and it landed hard on the ground, and a clogged up oiler due to being careless about keeping sawdust out of the oil reservoir. I can't blame the saw for any of those things. I think Echo is a relatively unknown top-quality brand, that's a good bit cheaper than the more famous names for the same quality. For a full-size logger's saw, I'd still go with Stihl, but for a trail, pruning, or firewood saw, you wouldn't go wrong with an Echo.
