I used my original '49 PW to haul potable water to my country place near Green River, WY for many years. I used a 450-gallon tank in the bed. That's over 3,700 lbs. in the rear of the truck, which squatted the springs about 3 1/2 inches with a full load.
I also moved lots of large objects with this PW, including a 12 foot diameter tank over 25 miles on a state highway. This move required me to obtain an oversize permit from the State DOT.
The longest haul with this PW was taking a non-running '48 PW with heavy snow plow from Patrick Draw, WY to Rock Springs, WY down I-80 on a flatbed trailer.
This was the truck everyone called on to get them out of bad situations. I used it to winch a Fxxd off a cliff face one night, where the driver's side tires were 1/2 way over the edge of a straight drop into a river. Another night, I had to chain up all 4 tires and winch several Fxxds and Cxxvs off a mountain where they were buried in deep snow.
The new '49 PW has winched out a tree stump from Denise's yard this Spring and other not so tough tasks.
