The fact that your brake lights came on leads me to suggest checking your master cylinder rod free play. If there isn't enough play, the brakes will slowly apply themselves everytime the pedal bounces /vibrates while going down the road. This keeps adding brake pessure, which applies your brakes. There should be about an inch or so of brake pedal free travel, before it begins applying the brakes...
