Well, you could tig it, but if you have a mig use that. Also you could stick it. If you use stick, I would put in a 6010 root and 7018 cap. Try to put a copper backing plate behind the weld if you can. Then burn it into that backing plate for some nice penetration. If you use a mig, .030 0r .035 solid wire is the choice. Stay away form flux- core. Also 75-25 mix on the gas for carbon steel. If you use a tig, you need steel filler wire, 3/32- 1/8. You'll need straight argon. You can use a stick machine, just reverse the polarity, and you'll have to put on several passes,unless your good and can carry some metal. Well good luck you'll do fine.
