I wouldn't use my 110 mig on something as thick as a frame. I'll probably stick mine. Or drive it over to a friend's big mig.
My plan is to slot the crack all the way through, and back it up with a piece of steel. Then, lots of amps, penetrate into the backer as I weld. I realise you may not be able to postion a backer, depending on the location of the crack, in which case a 'v' groove is the best. Perhaps lay on a piece of 2x10" steel strap across the cracks, with the ends cut at a mitre. Weld only the long edges, so that the welds don't go across the frame. That would lessen the 'stress riser' inherent in any weld.
