Dan, go to Paul Cooks Kemper Texas Poower Wagon site. He has a good description of gen charging. There are 2 types A or B circuit and you have to have both the VR and Gen as the same circuit type. Then, you must polarize the gen using a jumper. A or B circuit determines what to jumper. I just went through this with a Willy's MB converted to 12V. Nice WWII Miliitary NOS 12V VR, and rebuilt Generator. Turns out the VR was B circuit, but the Gen was wired A Circuit. Old School gen man and I figured it out. Ge rewired the Gen to B dircuit. Works good now. (Alternators are diefinitely better though )
