The shifter fork is held on the shaft with a 3/8-16 setscrew.
Removal of the bottom shaft involves removal of an external pipe plug that retains a shifter shaft ball and spring.
Remove the pto housing end plates to access a rivet in the lower shaft. Cold chisel the bent over end of the rivet off and drive the rivet out.
I haven't actually done this. I'm reading from a TM and hoping that I'm shedding some light on it for you.
