Temp gauge

I have my 47 FF on the road but my temp gauge has been stuck on hot since I bought the truck. I went through the archives and found previous posts about the temp gauge being a pressure gauge that is calibrated to read temp. With this in mind, my gauge is probably messed up. zis this a fare asumption? Robert N.
