Had a good evening yesterday, found some time to tinker with the PC500 I have on the classifieds.
I "borrowed" the injector pump from the PW300, and installed it on the PC500. Found the fuel spraying hard at the injectors, but it was a no start after several attempts and a bit of ether.
So I decided to pull the injectors to check for "fuel dribble". As carbon builds up in the torodial cavity of the piston and flat herron type cylinder head, it also gathers on the injector nozzles and the three tiny spary holes on the tip. Brushing the carbon off with a soft wire brush, and poking into the holes with a single wire seemed to do the trick. There is an additional step to servicing the injector that requires dissasembly and a special tool that I don't have.
A bit of ether again, and the old beast fired off, that is the best part IMHO in messing with these oldies. Oil pressure was steady at 50psi, and it sounds af if the valves need to be adjusted.
May have it driving by the weekend if I can get the clutch hydraulics in order.
