It's been covered here a little, but two reasons, our humidity is about 1/3 of the east, at 14% to 22% and the beetle damage has wiped out thousands of trees, dead and standing forests burn like you can't believe.
Mark, be sure you don't get hit by one of those retardant drops, your hair and scalp will be orange for about 2 months... (once a victim of a ticked off pilot)... ha!ha!
