So put spacers on them. Do what ever floats your Dodge. "Correct" is one relative term. Dual 900x16x6.5 do exist that's all I'm pointing out. These were used on military 3 to 7 ton front line trailers.

You could run inner and outer duals if you run ½ ton backing plate and brake drums. Why? I don't know. You just could.
