I have used orange oil on a steering wheel of an older jeep (topless in AZ sunlight) once out of desperation and it helped a little but I end up replacing the steering wheel. So I don't recommend using orange oil or shoe polish for that matter that one didn't work for the touch test after three minutes of drying time. Can't offer much more info then that. I don't know what to use but I can tell you not to use those things.
