That's water vapor, caused by extreme compression of the air on the leading edge.
Seeing that is plane 6 of the Blue Angles means that he was most likely OK. Planes 5&6 are the two "rouges". While Planes 1-4 fly formations, 5&6 take turns scaring the poo out of the crowd. It's a great show if you ever get a chance to see them perform.
