The question came up a few post ago about when the body changes were made to the WC62/63s and I got side tracked by it this morning.

Per Richards & Clark's "Dodge WW2 Military Portfolio" Dodge produced 43,363 6x6's (combined w and w/o winch models)

About 32000 of them were built in 1943, the remaining 11000 or so were built in 1944 and 45.

Starting SN is 82000006.

At SN 8201005 the rear body was revised from steel to wood/steel. That would be the 10049th truck. Assuming equal monthly production, that would be around April 1943... early on in production.

At SN 82031651 the left hand body side was shortened to make space for the driver to step through behind the spare. That would be the 31645th truck. Sometime in Nov. 1943 if the production numbers were equal month to month.

In answer to another post, at SN 82038949 the front spring clip plates were changed on all models (6x and 4x) to accept Monroe telescopic shocks. This would be the 38943rd 6x6 produced and approx. March 1945 if production of the last 11000 trucks was equal month to month over '44 and '45. My Feb. 1945 truck has these new fangled spring hangers, so the equal month thing is close, but not perfect.

How's that for useless trivia :)
