Need help with engine id

My 1941 WC12 has a non-original engine in it. The engine number is P18*284107. The * is a 5 pointed star. There may be one additional digit after the 7, but I can't tell for sure.

The engine looks pretty much like in the manual otherwise.

Anyone know the source of this one?
