This is the first place I looked, about 5 years ago. Just look at all of the variations we get. The 1/2 degree trend looks meaningless in all that garbage.
Not to mention that with all those themoneters for 110 years, we get 1/2 degree. Do you think tree rings are calibrated to 1/2 deg? Are sediment beds? or ice sheets? I don't think so. I do think you can interpret the data anydamnway you want.
Now, I wonder about the guy who said to himself, 20 years ago, "Gee. it's hot today. Seems hotter than I ever remember." His first stop would have been to tha NOAA site, with all of it's variations. He then must have started a quest for more data to force into his theory... Including, about 5 years ago, changing the NOAA's later measurements to fit a "warming trend theory". Yup, they came up with some justification for modifying their own temperature readings. Some thing like "Modern cities have an Urban Heat Reservoir Effect" from all the pavement. When I first went to that site, there was "no trend found" posted on it. Now, it shows a 1/2 degree line. But notice also that "no rainfall trend is noted". Seems odd to me that the supposed warming isn't effecting rainfall... no "urban rainfall" effect???
How to use that NOAA site: enter the year you want to chart, use 'linechart' and 'annual' instead of months.
