Capitalist? What could be more capitalist than taking an abstract concept like CO2 floating in the air, assigning it an arbitrary monetary value, then trading up the price on the stock market? Emissions trading in my opinion doesn't get any more capitalist.
Anti industrial? Read the first two sentences of the original post. Why can't we use our clever ingenuity to create a new industry devoted to making our current economy more efficient? That would involve engineers and construction folks working and making big bucks who could then afford new luxuries driving our economy forward.
Imagine how our former middle east buddies would wither away if we quit sending them cash every day for our oil addiction.
