Being a lawyer I take exception to the advice to never trust a lawuer. everyone hates them until they need one. I could give better advice to any of the people here regarding how to get the truck back and the legal status but I would need much more detailed information. I agree with other posters that if you have proper paperwork for the truck you should be able to go and take it back without threat of arrest. The local police told you to go to civil court because they did not want to get involved.
