as I recollect, the bypass system has a two-stage relief valve. First stage opens to send oil to the filter, only if pressure is above minimum. Additional flow willl open the valve further, and allow excess oil back into the pan. It takes more than bigger lines in the same holes to get a full flow oil filter system.
You would need lines as big as the plumbing inside the pan, about 5/8ths? I'm thinking modifying the pump body, blocking off the output near the impeller, adding fittings on the end plate and in the side after the block off. You would then be taking the oil off the back plate, through the filter, and putting it back into the block at the pump body. Use a filter with a built in anti-drain-back valve.
