I have several friends who are scientists and Professers at major universtiies and they all say the same thing- It's all about the BENJAMINS. They form theories and write Thesis papers to show the world how smart they are and to get cash to keep them alive.
One of my friends in paticular is in Antartica so that his wife won't divorce him and he will end up with less of the grant money for his toys by having to pay some lawyer to tell a judge how much he should pay her for alimony! The only way they get along is when he is only home for about 1 month at a time. Both he and she are Professers for a major university but he is gone more then home. Both have Doc at the end of their name she is for english and him for studing glaciers.
So thats the way of life. If you want to survive and be a brainiac then you have to do field research. If you do field research then you need money to do it. If you need money you need a grant cause no bank will give you cash to prove a thesis. If you need a grant you need a reason for the FEDS to give you money. Cause follows effect and you get the theory of global warming.
My buddy was telling me, the last time we spoke, that in a few more years the scientific community will probably go back to the "Ice Age" thing again after a few years of normallicy.

SO the real answer is that there is nothing we can do to change the thought of the government,science or the general public's view on the enviornment. Norm was right as long as we remain a consumer nation then we will comsume (paraphrased) if you personaly want to change that, then go ahead. Reduce reuse and recycle have a great time doing it! Plant trees, water grass, don't drive a gas guzzler. I like to push over trees,burn grass and drive a gas guzzler so If you do yours and I do mine then there will be a balance. And now back to the bat cave to figure out what the Riddler is up to!
