Aluminum jerry cans

Has anyone ever seen an aluminum 5-gal jerry can? I found one at a thrift store last week and had to buy it when I found it to be aluminum. Only a couple minor dents and scuffs. I like the steel ones, and this one is marked WATER. Two of my steel cans are for water, but they have ceramic coated innards. This one is just plain aluminum, and aside from the spout and lid is just like a steel gas can. It says U.S.M.C. on the side. I know one of my steel water cans is WWII vintage. Any idea how old the Al can might be?
I am still in the process of stripping the paint off so I can polish it to a mirror finish. It will match my '58 Airsteam Bubble trailer, often towed by my '53 FFPW, so there is the PW content.
