Were Suspension Seats Ever An Option?

I've been slowly cleaning and sifting through this '49 B-1-PW that I've acquired. It appears to have a factory dual rear wheel setup, with spring stacks about a foot thick. I noticed screwed to the dash is a small metal placque with instructions on which way to push a lever to make the seat firmer or softer. The tags been there a very long time, but a stock seat is now in the truck. Anybody ever seen one of these suspension seats in a PW?
