Don't laugh. I know one of the NASA engineers that worked in Flight Control during missions. He says the computers rarely worked right and he and his co-workers would manually have to recalculate the orbits and feed the numbers to the astronauts. In the early days of Gemini and Apollo it was often done with the assistance of a slide rule!
