there is a star head screw inside the chuck
open the chuck all the way and look inside
and you should see it in theory it should unscrew and then the chuck just threads off IN THEORY but every one i've done just broke the screw off so after replacing chuck i just loktited the chuck threads still works after 5 years
but on a cheaper note i just bought a ryobi drill flashlight combo for $5o at homie depot its cheaper than the batteries for the dewalt just a thought
