1948 B-1 with L6 230
Distributor Numbers(3 Sets: #A4201; AE135650; and 93036- Somewhat hard to read.
Our original engine has a standard distributor, non vaccume advance, and I am exploring the possibility of converting it to an electronic ignition. The truck is currently a 6V pos to ground system, but I will probably convert it to a 12V neg to ground with alternator. The reason for the conversion is that the truck will be up in snow country and driven intermittantly (ie cold and damp and not driven alot so points foul often).
I have asked Pertronix if they have a conversion and he said that they didnt show any listing for our numbers. I haven't been able to get in touch with Crane Cams yet.
Has anyone made this conversion to a '48 with standard dist., and how did they do it and where did they purchase supplies?
Can anyone identify this distributor by the numbers? Is it original or did somebody replace it at sometime?
Is converting points to electonic worthwhile? Should anything else be done in conjunction with it?
Thanks
