The PIF has steps to work through to find ignition problems. You should have current on the negative side of the coil if the truck is negative ground. Hold the coil lead a 1/4 from a plug, take the ground lead (Lead going to points) and hold it against a ground and then pull it away. If the coil is good you will have a spark at the plug. If it's not a thick blue spark, replace the coil. Make sure you are insulated when you do the test.
