NV4500 came with 2 different input shafts: 1.250 input X 29 spline output, or 1.125 input X 29 spline output. The 1.125 input gas engine models are usually cheaper and Advance Adapters makes a kit to change over to 1.250 for about $250 or so.
There was an issue with the 5th gear retaining nut failing, and a recall fix for it. All boxes repaired at dealer level are stamped 'NEW NUT'. Tranny shops may also have done the work but with no stamp. Failure really messes up the trans so it's important.
You need a Dodge Cummins NV4500 bellhousing adapter and Dodge Cummins bellhousing for the Dodge NV4500. You can use a GM Cummins NV4500, and that requires the GM adapter and GM bellhousing. GM clutch is much smaller so Dodge unit is much preferred!
Paul can explain engine offset for power steering if you're doing that and he's the 4BT guru as far as I'm concerned....
