Keith, your story is amazing, just to learn that you kept your cool and were able to salvage the trip, and do it in good humor. You win the truck adventure Attaboy Award. Good show!
I used to enjoy the trips that I took for business or pleasure. Now, when people ask me to help them go fetch a truck or go use a trailer to do some errand, these days I just say, "No, thanks, I've had enough truck adventures to last me a lifetime." A few days later, when they give me an after-action report from a hospital bed, I say they have proved my point.

This weekend, in a freak cold snap, he got stuck in a snowdrift, and while he was plodding home, uphill in a blizzard, to get help, somebody stole his windshield and headlights. They took the windows out of the doors, and stole the bed right offen the truck, too. He shoulda "stood in bed", is my opinion.
