Naw, you don't need math, you need taller tires! The 318 have a pretty low red line, I'd stay at 5000 or less! I replaced the obsolete 16.5's on my D200 with 235-85r16LT, load range E's on new 16x8 rims. Those were a good 2" taller than the 9.5x16.5's that were on there. I should have gone taller still, but at 55 mph, my 74 318 (with a 4 speed) was running around 2500 rpm.
