oil dip stick question

in an effort to keep my restored engine bay clean, im wondering if a ww2 3/4 ton engine will accept the threaded oil dipstick tube from an m37. the current dipstick is a drop in style with a felt washer. does anyone know if the ww2 engines have a threaded hole. im away from my vehicle right now so i cant check myself.
