It depends upon the year and the branch of service that the vehicle was assigned to. For instance, early WWII Navy vehicles were gloss black. Later ones were gloss grey. Both usually painted over flat olive drab, so the frame, axles, interior, engine compartment, etc. tended to remain olive drab. Some Army and Marine vehicles were semi-gloss olive drab. There were so many combinations, and me being strictly a Power-Wagon guy, the array of military colors easily confuses me.
