The early Dana 70 rear has nothing wrong with it. I just do not happen to have any lying around. The front dana 70 is a tough nut to get parts for. The real concern is the closed knuckle. I would rather use the open knuckle style dana 60 on the front and dana 70 on the rear.
Put it down to the ease of getting parts.
