My NY State hand gun permit was issued in '68 and is good for everything except not in NYC without the police commissioners approval, and not valid for carrying a loaded weapon in a vehicle. When in a vehicle, I have always locked the handgun in the glove compartment without the cylinder and without ammunition. This way, I should never have an issue.
