If you want lessor performance for a long, long time, it can. However you need to confirm that the flywheel, water pumps, charging systems, fuel system, etc are compatible, or be prepared to change out a lot of items. A block is a block, but the engine accesories may be specific to it's industrial use. Chnaces are it may have the highly desireable governor.
