There is no weight restriction on an antique tag in Kansas. We discuss driving antique semi trucks around to the ATHS shows all the time at our meetings. Its an antique and not for hire.

You only need a CDL and the certification and health if you are getting a CDL. Commercial Drivers License. You are not driving for hire with an antique truck pulling a flabed trailer with your 4 antique tractors on it.

You can get regular RV tags if you are using a newer or new truck to pull things around. Lots of people are buying the mid sized frieghtliners and pulling horse trailers and so forth. Trucks the size of Judd's old Purple unit he drove. My buddy did this with a 94 semi tractor with 5th wheel. All ready to go on the road.Sleeper and both rear axles. Titled and tagged it as an RV and was good to go. I believe he did have to stay under the 26k restriction and could only carry so many gallons of racing fuel to be under hazmat rules.

In some states you have to get a exemption letter and any commercial vehicle 25 years or older can get an antique or historical plate and those trucks can move on the highways with out paying weight or commercial registration fee's. GVW is entered in as 000000.

Although there is no weight restrictions on an antique truck you wouldnt want to over load it anyways. But going over the 26k barrier for air brake endorsement doesnt matter on an antique truck. ATHS has over 22000 members in the club and theres a lot of antique trucks that drive all over the US to shows every year.
