bed board numbers-what is stock?

I know the 1st series had 6 boards stock. I know the 3rd series had 8 boards stock. Where there is confusion is that I hear different statements about the 2nd series. I have a '52 B-3 with the pickup sides/bed and I am gettting ready to put the bed together in a few months.
